Ballet First proved its professionalism and versatility with accomplished dancers in this exciting performance at the weekend. It was clear; these dancers are well trained with Classical Ballet threading its way through every Dance piece. Advanced technique and expertise shown by the senior students to the promise of future talent from the younger ones.
The balanced programme consisted of Sleeping Beauty variations skilfully danced on Pointe, well rehearsed Nutcracker Suite excerpts, slick Michael Buble Jazz Dance clearly showing the dancers’ versatility through to Contemporary Dance, brilliantly danced by Alice Murphy in a moving piece - ‘The Gift’ from Annie Lennox. The ‘Fairytale’ with younger students was lovely to watch with clear direction and confidence displayed from the very young.
The final dance piece of the evening with music from Michael Nyman – pure Classical Ballet with dancers in flowing pink sheer costumes showed Ballet First dancers at their best, gliding through complex movements in varying changing constellations, with excellent choreography from Principal Theresa Crumb. Guests in the programme included Kate Thompson on Saxophone and the exuberant Mary Hall reading poetry on Dance.
